Charaf Tajer's vision of menswear materialises into beautifully tailored garments which experiment with sumptuous fabrics, crafting pieces that strike the perfect balance between comfort and elegance. This season, the brand swaps our invitations to the après tennis party in favour of the Casablanca ski club.
Casablanca's AW20 collection is titled "Idéalisme", a fitting name for a capsule which transports us into a tropical dreamscape. Following its launch in 2019, the brand has crafted a signature 'après-sport' aesthetic that is defined by custom prints, relaxed tailoring, and an alluring colour palette. Fans of the French-Moroccan brand are already well acquainted with the maison's love of prints, which are designed in-house by a small team. Taking inspiration from the scenic views of Lake Garda in northern Italy, this collection is underlined with imagery of glacial lakes, alpine mountains, lush gardens and crisp blue skies.
Silk shirts are accented by bold patterns and dotted with an eclectic mix of motifs like baroque villas, roman pillars, and tongue-in-cheek slogans. The 'Maison de Repos' (translation: retirement home) shirt, in particular, is a breezy pastel pink silk-twill ensemble depicting a grand holiday estate complemented by diving swans, lustrous greens and a dalmatian perched on Roman columns—remind us to sign up to wherever Tajer plans to retire to, because that sounds like a dream.
We're also treated to a fresh take on the animal print trend—a poised spotty canine is transposed onto the wool cashmere-blend 'dalmatian print jumper', and set against a frosty utopian backdrop. Our favourite four-legged furry friends make another appearance on a polka-dotted silk shirt, and a pair of white straight-legged trousers, hauling it’s fictitious owner along a leash.
And if you're hungry for some footwear, Casablanca has collaborated with New Balance once again on the 327 sneakers. The upcoming launch will introduce two new colourways, 'White Birch/Summer Fog' and 'Black/Orca' set to drop tomorrow, September 12th via an online raffle.
The original release of New Balance x Casablanca 327 'Idéaliste' was dubbed 'the shoe of the summer' by Highsnobiety, primarily due to its tangy palette of citrus orange and forest greens. It's highly likely the upcoming model will be a difficult one to get a hold of, so good luck to all the sneakerheads trying their luck.
For the rest of you who are just as entranced with their collection as we are, we've got good news for you. HEAT is proud to welcome Casablanca as our official brand partners. Expect to find their new collection in your #HEATbox
